Ever the peacemaker, you grew up inherently sensitive to the rising tensions in your household. Your mother didn't like that your father worked such long hours at the lab, complaining that his priorities weren't in order. You did always miss him when he was so preoccupied with work, but you could also understand his counterargument: he has to provide for his family and this is the best way to do it. Seeing both sides, you often placated your mother in her moods and tried to soothe your father by over-engaging in family activities when he was able to be home. A family game night, bowling, going out for a movie --- whatever it might be that could ease that seemingly ever present underlying tension in the household.By freshman year, though, things come to a head even you can't fix. Your mother has been out of the house more now that you've been older, sometimes getting home only just before your father after one of his late shifts. They both think you haven't noticed, but you do. They think you don't hear the argument they have when your father realizes that your mother has been seeing another man, but you do. A divorce would simply be too messy, so instead your father takes a job offer at a new lab in Hawkins, IN. Perhaps your mother realizes you know more than you let on when you decide to leave her behind in California and join your father on his new endeavor in the small town.You start a new life together, just you and your dad. Given that you'll be home alone a lot with his crazy work hours, your dad gets you a puppy to keep you company: a chocolate lab who you affectionately name Sprocket. You spend your time before school starts familiarizing yourselves as much as you can with the surrounding area that August. In that time, you run into Tamara Cooper (@shebetrayed) and have a little adventure in the small town. You're relieved to have at least made one connection before you start at Hawkins High School that fall. However, when the fall comes all too quickly, you find yourself paired for an art project with Madison Ives (@shebetrayer) and suddenly caught up in the drama of two old friends who've undergone a recent "breakup" of sorts. As you'll soon discover, though, friendship drama isn't the only thing brewing in Hawkins.

Holly and her father have moved to Hawkins for her father's new job at the lab. If possible, he spends even longer hours working at this lab on a project she already knows he can't discuss with her. Due to his crazy schedule, she has lots of freedom to explore Hawkins and the surrounding area with friends as long as she's home before him, which really isn't that hard. Her father doesn't worry too much; after all, how could a small town in Indiana be more dangerous than a big city in California?*I am up to date on S4 and therefore can write Holly at any point in the ST timeline.
